AIRLINE INFORMATION

CUSTOM TRAVEL LTD.

Airline transportation to South Africa is not included with any of our safaris.  Your local travel agent can assist you with these arrangements, however some of them are not familiar with South Africa and traveling with your hunting rifles.  If you are looking for an agent that has experience in this field we highly recommend Custom Travel LTD in Greenfield, WI.  They have not only the experience to provide your air travel at the lowest possible rates, but can also assist you with other helpful information, such as information on the area you'll be visiting, health, firearm transportation and insurance related facts and more.  Call them toll free at 800-728-5301 or visit their web site at www.customtravelafrica.com for detailed information.

SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS

For hunters from the USA we highly recommend South African Airways as they have direct flights daily via   Dulles (Washington D.C.) or New York (JFK).  South African Airways is the National carrier, distinctively a class above other African airlines in terms of service and reliability with a 99.8% take-off record.  You can visit South African Airways web site at http://ww4.flysaa.com/ for flight schedules and information.

ACCOMMODATIONS IN JOHANNESBURG

Because of the long drive to our Base Camp we highly recommend that anyone whose flight arrives after 4PM (which covers most of the non stop flights from the US) to spend their first night in Johannesburg.  After the long flight to South Africa there is nothing better than getting a good nights rest and beginning your safari completely fresh.  For accommodations we highly recommend Afton Guest House.  They are located only 7 minutes from Johannesburg airport and will provide you with Meet & Greet services upon your arrival along with transportation to and from the airport.  For more information on them visit their web site at: http://www.aftonguesthouse.com/index.htm  For reservations you can contact them directly or Custom Travel (listed above) can make them for you.  Cruiser Safaris will pick you up for your safari the next morning (which will be your safari arrival date) at Afton Guest House.

TRAVEL IN SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa is geared towards travel by air and road with an extensive network of well-maintained paved roads and many domestic, as well as private charter airline services.

Most parts of the Limpopo Province are easily accessible via a well-constructed road network.  Major highways are paved as are most roadways around metropolitan areas, however rural roads are seldom paved.  Any valid drivers license is accepted in South Africa, provided it bears the photograph and signature of the holder and is printed in English.  Contrary to driving in the U.S., driving in South Africa is done on the left.

There are three International Airports in South Africa; Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.  The Johannesburg International Airport is the arrival/departure point for Cruiser Safaris.  About 50 airlines provide service to and from South Africa though, as we mentioned, South African Airways is the National carrier.
